Concrete Currents
Concrete Currents is a scaled model of my New York apartment embedded within an empty coffee can, which was later released into the city streets with a return address written inside. This work explores urban isolation and reconnection, with the can acting as both a vessel for memories and a fragile message in a bottle.
The project is informed by childhood memories of picking up cans with my mother and brother during a tough financial period in Toronto; by reclaiming the discarded vessel, the work bridges a past of economic scarcity with a present state of spatial and social displacement.
Materials: Aluminum Coffee Can, LED, Wood, Terra-Cotta Clay, Plexiglass, and Acrylic Paint
