Current to New York (Hudson River)
Current to New York (Hudson to New York) is a scaled model of my private room, built with a functional ballast and keel, sealed with a postcard and return address, that was released into the Hudson River in 2022 as a live event. The project was marked by a speech and a group toast at Tivoli Landing. But the larger gesture was the release of the model into the river, an offering to the unpredictable forces of nature and chance. The work examines themes of displacement and the uncontrollable search for connection.
Materials: Pine Wood, Plexiglass, Carpet, Solar-Powered LED, Epoxy-Resin, Fishing Weights, Foam, Acrylic, Enamel, and a Postcard with a Return Address, Variable Dimensions
