M101…90°
M101…90° reimagines the glass Colonnade of The Cooper Union as an elongated transit space, mirroring the M101 bus route that docks outside its windows. I literalized the movement of the Colonnade by transforming it into a mobile scale model. Fitted with GoPros to function as a video dolly, I moved the model along the M101 route from 7th Street to 90th Street and back. This footage was then projected at both ends of the actual Colonnade, synchronized with surround-sound recordings to merge the stationary building with the transit of the city. In the library, the model was elevated to eye level, where viewers encountered the object through a solo journey alongside a live perspective of the route. By layering these recorded and physical movements, the work invites viewers to locate their own path in relation to the collective, synchronized movement of others through the city.
